Benefits

Goods are never put away

Freight arrives, is sorted by destination and leaves. Removing the storage step cuts total cycle time out of the chain.

One origin, many destinations

Built for merchandise that must be distributed to different markets or locations across the country from a single consolidation point.

Inside the park

The platform is part of Hau Can Park's facilities, with the same controlled access and security infrastructure as the rest of the complex.

Every time a product enters a rack and comes back out, the supply chain pays twice: once to put it away and once to find it again. When merchandise already knows where it is going the moment it arrives, that stop adds no value — only days.

Hau Can Park facilities include a platform for cross-docking activities. The operation saves the time required to organize and sort merchandise bound for different markets or locations across the country. It is operated in house with Chronos.

How it works

Cross-docking replaces the traditional cycle with a shorter one:

Traditional flowCross-docking
1ReceivingReceiving
2Put-away and storageSorting by destination
3Retrieval and preparationDispatch
4Dispatch

Removing the intermediate storage step cuts cycle time, reduces handling of the freight, and frees warehouse capacity for inventory that genuinely needs to be held.

When it makes sense

Cross-docking pays off under specific conditions:

  • The merchandise already has a defined destination on arrival
  • It is distributed to several markets or locations across the country from one consolidation point
  • Inbound and outbound volumes are reasonably synchronized
  • The product does not require extended storage

It is not a substitute for warehousing but a parallel lane. It is common for the same company to move replenishment freight to its retail points through cross-docking while holding backup inventory in 3PL storage or flexible pallet-position rental.

Why location decides the value

A cross-docking platform is worth exactly what its connectivity is worth: if freight is slow to arrive and slow to leave, the time saved inside is lost outside. Both Hau Can Park locations sit on distribution nodes:

  • San Luis Potosí — inside the WTC Parque Industrial Premium, next to the KCSM intermodal terminal, on the Highway 57 corridor toward Piedras Negras and Laredo. The natural point for national distribution and for freight moving toward the US border.
  • Querétaro — next to the Intercontinental Airport, where the major parcel carriers operate, and two hours' drive from the largest consumer market in the country.

Work performed on the freight

If the merchandise needs more than sorting — customer-specific labeling, repacking, different palletizing — that is handled through value-added services within the same park, without moving the freight to another facility.
